The 1995-96 men's basketball team, coached by Larry Holley, finished 30-9 on the season and advanced to the Final Four of the NAIA Division II National Tournament. This was the first in school history to be ranked No. 1 nationally, doing so during the week of January 7, 1996.

Brook Russell was named the NAIA-II National Player of the Year while head coach Larry Holley was the NABC National Coach of the Year, the first NAIA coach to receive the honor. 

The 1996 men's basketball squad, coached by Larry Holley, finished 30-9 on the season and reached the Final Four of the NAIA-II National Tournament. This team was also the first in school history to be ranked No. 1 in the nation (week of 1/7/96). 

Brook Russell was named the NAIA II National Player of the Year and became the first to have his jersey retired.  ead Coach Larry Holley was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year by the NABC and was the first NAIA coach to receive this honor.
