The 2006 men’s soccer team is considered the best in school history, going 18-3-2 on the year. The Cardinals won the Heart of America conference championship with a perfect record of 9-0, becoming the first team in conference history to do so. They also won the Region 16 championship and finished in the final four of the NAIA National Tournament. They completed the season ranked No. 1 in the nation according to Massey Ratings and No. 3 in the final NAIA national poll. Two members of this team were named to the NAIA All-Tournament team and three were All-Americans. Head coach Chris Cissell, a former Cardinal himself from the class of 1994, was selected as the conference, region, and national coach of the year.
