Bill Summers lettered for four years in both basketball and track. He was named All-Conference three times and NAIA All-American Honorable Mention as a sophomore in basketball. Summers became Jewell’s first NAIA National Champion when he won the high jump as a junior. Although he stood at only 5’11” Pee Wee cleared 6’9” 3/4”. This school record stood until 1995. Summer’s was also named Athlete of the Year in 1965.
