Larry Hamilton attended Jewell from 1957-61 and coached and worked as the athletic director from 1967-2002.
He played three sports for the Cardinals including football, swimming, and track. He was the high point man of the 1960 MCAU outdoor track meet. During his career he won titles in the 100, 440, and 880. Hamilton was also an MCAU All-Conference selection in football.
His career as a coach was equally impressive as he led the Cardinals to two HAAC track titles. Two of his teams, the 1976 men's swimming and 1986 women's track and field team have also been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
He went on to serve as Athletic Director and was named the 1999-00 HAAC and NACAA/ Continental Airlines Athletic Director of the Year.
