Myers Mayberry lettered in five sports in one year including: football, basketball, baseball, track and tennis in 1917-18. During that season he was chosen as All-State in football, basketball, and baseball. He was the leading scorer on the basketball team. Mayberry was the high point man in the conference track meet winning first place in the pole vault, long jump and discus. He was also the catcher on Jewell’s undefeated Conference Baseball Championship Team. Finally, he was a member of conference doubles championship team in tennis (with O.K. “Dimp” Evans).
