Dick Bowles attended Jewell from 1945-49, graduating in just three years after missing the 1946-47 year serving in the military. He is the son of legendary coach and athletic director R.E. Bowles, and the youngest of four brothers who were all student-athletes for the Cardinals.
While at Jewell, Bowles lettered in football, basketball, and track. He was the leading scorer on the basketball team as a freshman and voted Jewell’s Athlete of the Year as a senior. He went on to become the team physician for the Cardinals as well as a member of the Jewell Board of Trustees.
