Harrison attended Jewell from 1975-79. He was a four year letter winner in both cross country and track. He ran under the coaching of Darrel Gourley. Harrison was named to HAAC All-Conference and NAIA All District in both Cross Country and Track. He was an NAIA All American in Indoor Track and set the conference mile run record at both indoor and outdoor meets. At one point he held records in the 1000 yard run, the mile, 1500 meters, 3000 meters (track) and 5 miles (cross country). Steve Harrison was also a member of 8 conference championship teams in Track (indoor and outdoor) and Cross Country. Harrison maintained a 4.0 GPA and graduated Magna Cum Laude while majoring in Chemistry and Philosophy. Harrison was also the President of FCA.
