Tom Cook played football for the Cardinals from 1950-1952 after transferring from Kansas to become Jewell's first All-American in any sport. As a sophomore in 1950 he amassed 640 rushing yards on 78 attempts, to go along with nine catches for 304 yards and ranked tenth in the nation with 97 points. He finished his career as a three-time All-Conference selection and was a team captain.
