William Jewell College tennis coach
Paul Worstell announced the signing of local standout Jessica Capps Tuesday afternoon, as Capps signed a National Letter of Intent to attend William Jewell College beginning next fall.
"I am thrilled that Jessica has decided to join our program," Worstell said. "It's always great when a player of her caliber chooses to stay close to home. I'm confident that she will help the team do big things. In addition to Jessica being a talented tennis player, she has a tremendous work ethic that translates to the classroom and beyond."
Capps played her freshman year at Ocoee High School in Ocoee, Fla., before moving to Kansas City. She attends The Daniel Academy which does not sponsor Tennis so Capps dedicated herself to playing USTA events and Club Tennis. Capps won an unsanctioned tournament at Hillside Racquet club recently. Capps has also trained privately with coach Jason Johnson.
In the classroom, Capps has earned The Top Student award in American History, World History, and Chemistry.
