The Cardinals lost a tough 65-64 decision to Missouri Western Friday night in the first round of the Hillyard Classic Tournament in St. Joseph, Missouri. 

After leading for most of the game, Mark Mason had a chance to convert a free throw for a three point play to tie the game witrh 16 seconds remaining.  Although he missed the shot, Nate Kroeker had a chance at a followup blocked out of bounds, then the Cardinals had several chances down low on the inbounds to score but missed all of them before the clock ran out.

Nick Larson had 23 points and 14 rebounds.

Action continues for the Cardinals Saturday against Northwest Missouri State at 6:00.
