This mission of the William Jewell Sports Medicine department is to provide optimal medical care to the student-athletes of William Jewell College in accordance with all guidelines set by the William Jewell Athletic Department, Great Lakes Valley Conference, and National Collegiate Athletics Association.

William Jewell College is partnered with Liberty Hospital Sports Medicine to provide student-athletes an enhanced level of healthcare. Through this partnership, Liberty Hospital becomes the exclusive provider for Jewell student-athletes. All sports medicine staff members, including athletic trainers, are Liberty Hospital employees reporting to medical professionals. All student-athletes participating in the College's NCAA Division II sports as well as members of the Cardinal powerlifting and spirit programs will have access to this comprehensive model. The enhanced level of care includes but is not limited to athletic training, strength and conditioning, physical therapy, and care from physicians and orthopedic surgeons.

The Sports Medicine team, consisting of certified Athletic Trainer's, orthopedic surgeons, nurses, and dentists, will strive to utilize prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment, referral, and rehabilitative techniques in an effort to return student-athletes to his/her respective sport in the most expedited and safest manners possible. Sports Medicine team members will remain cognizant of the "total" athlete, including mental, emotional, and physical needs.

In accordance with the state laws of the State of Missouri, as well as the Professional Code of Ethics set forth by the National Athletic Trainer's Association, certified Athletic Trainer's will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times and the welfare of the student-athletes will be the primary consideration. No student-athlete will be discriminated against on the basis of race, gender, athletic ability, or sport. These same values and considerations will be elicited in the concern of student-athletes from visiting institutions.
