The William Jewell College men's soccer team got by St. Joseph's College (Ind.) 1-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference Action on Friday night in Liberty, Mo. 

The game remained scoreless until the 77th minute when Forrest McCurren found Chad Newman who scored the game winning goal for the Cardinals. 

Jewell outshot the Pumas 16-9  and 7-4 in shots on goal. 

Senior keeper Justin Schmidt finished with four saves and earned his third shutout of 2011.

The Cardinals, 10-6 on the season will continue Great Lakes Valley Conference action against University of Indianapolis Sunday, October 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Greene Stadium on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
