The William Jewell College women's basketball team continued their early season winning ways with a 75-53 win over Central Christian College of Moberly, Mo., tonight at the Mabee Center in Liberty, Mo.
The first half saw both teams trading leads and the Saints kept things close and only trailed by six going into halftime.
The Cardinals were able to pull away in the second half thanks to a 10-0 run in the first seven minutes of the second half. Jewell's defense was a smothering force as they were able to force 32 turnovers including 23 team steals against the Saints. Senior
Katy Colby swiped a game high five steals.
Sophomore
Chelsea Meeks led all scorers with 16 points and also came away with four steals. First-year player
Maddie Mason came off the bench and contributed 12 points for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals, 4-0 on the year, will open up Great Lakes Valley Conference play as they host Quincy University on Thursday, December 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center on the Jewell Campus in Liberty, Mo.
