The Jewell softball team fell to 6-5 on the season with a double header sweep by McKendree University on Tuesday. The first game went to the Bearcats (now 3-6 on the season) by a score of 7-6, and the second game went to McKendree 6-0.
Rachel Hayden (2-2) took the loss in the first game, pitching six innings and allowing all seven runs on 11 hits.
Amanda Storm went 2-4 at the plate with two RBI, while
Erica Scowley had a home run.
In the second game, Storm (1-2) went all seven innings in taking the loss, while
Faith Song went 3-4 and Storm had two hits and two walks. The Cardinals made three errors and had a wild pitch and a passed ball that allowed runs to score in a four-run third inning for McKendree.
The Cardinals are scheduled to play Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis University this weekend; the site for the games is not set due to weather conditions in the northern plains.
