Box Score Cardinal softball won an elimination game with St. Joseph's College in the 2013 GLVC Championship Tournament with an 8-2 win Saturday night in East Peoria, Illinois.

The Cardinals (32-14) got two home runs and three total hits from Faith Song, Lexy Rozmus had a solo home run as well for the Cardinals, with Kelsey Teneycke and Annali Dolman contributing RBI singles.  Rachel Potvin had three hits and two stolen bases

Song was the starting pitcher and earned the win, throwing  four innings against the Pumas, allowing two runs on seven hits with neither a walk nor a strikeout.

Corinne Frei got a save, as she pitched the final three innings and gave up no runs on 1 hit, walking four and striking out four.  After relieving Song following a leadoff single, Frei got an out but then walked consecutive hitters to load the bases, only to come back and strike out the next two hitters.

Jewell advances to an 11 a.m. elimination game against Lewis University Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
