Men's Tennis Adds Two In Early Signing Period

William Jewell College men's tennis head coach Paul Worstell announced the signing of two student-athletes who will join the Cardinals next year. Cutter Sanders and Jacob Davis will enroll at William Jewell College for the fall 2017 semester.

"We are excited to welcome both Cutter and Jacob to William Jewell for 2017-18," commented Worstell. "Both players are quality players and it speaks to the quality of our college and the tennis program that they chose us."

Sanders is an impressive recruit from Olathe, Kan., and is currently the ninth rated recruit in Kansas. In his sophomore campaign, Sanders led his High School team to a First Place finish in the Sunflower league and finished sixth in state in doubles.

"Cutter is currently ranked No. 9 in the state of Kansas and I think he is a bit stronger than that," added Worstell. "He has some quality wins and is also a strong doubles player."

Davis is from Trenton, Mo., and is beginning his fourth year playing for the Bulldogs. Davis finished third in districts as a junior last season and also finished second at a very tough Benton High School Tournament.

"Jacob brings a level of potential and enthusiasm that fits well with us," said Worstell. "His best tennis is ahead of him, but what really distinguished him was his positive mind set and desire to succeed. He's just a great person and I am thrilled to get to work with him here at Jewell."

The William Jewell College men's and women's tennis programs begins their spring schedule Saturday, Jan. 28 when they travel to Omaha, Neb., to take on Creighton at 6:00 p.m.
