The William Jewell swimming teams posted one of their strongest showings on record on day two of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships in Crawfordsville, Ind. on Thursday.

The Cardinals got their first All-GLVC selection in newcomer
Ayleen Burt who was narrowly defeated in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4.25.65. Even without the win the freshman set the new school record and reached the NCAA II 'B' cut time. Another freshman,
Delaney Haralson finished fourth in the same event and also hit a 'B' cut at 4:30.47. Maddie Allen qualified for the consolation finals where she finished 12th.
Jewell posted sixth place finishes in both the relay events as
Katie Hays,
Shannon Ernst,
Jordan Hamilton, and
Alex Millhuff posted a school record time of 1:37.71 in the 200 free relay, while Ernst, Millhuff,
Paige Meredith, and
Carley Wood swam the 400 medley relay in 3:56.41.
Meredith also picked up an individual 'B' cut time of her own in the 100 butterfly at 55.60 while Millhuff and
Shea Marcinski finished 15th and 16th respectively in the 200 free.
For the men, the team of
Aaron Stanek,
Craig Haug,
Corbin Grimes, and
Keaton Dir broke the school record and hit an NCAA II 'B' standard time in the 200 free relay for the first time in program history at 1:23.11.
Bryan Hahn,
Matthew Samsel,
Dylan Walters, and
John Parmer finished 13th in the consolation final of the 200 free.
Zachary Posniack was tenth in the 400 IM while breaking a school record and hitting the NCAA II 'B' cut with a time of 4:01.19.
Trey Roggenstein also hit the 'B' standard time at 4:02.97 while finishing 13th. Stanek qualified for the consolation final in the men's 100 fly where he finished 15th at 50.65.
In the 200 freestyle,
Anthony Aranda placed seventh with a finals time of 1:38.99 to hit a 'B' cut, this coming after breaking the school record in the preliminaries at 1:38.26. Dir followed close behind in eighth place at 1:39.23 after posting a 'B' cut time of 1:38.42 in the preliminaries. Both Aranda and Dir's finals times were also NCAA II 'B' cut times as well.
Haug, Hahn, Dir, and
Travis Colpitts rounded out the day with an eighth place mark in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:21.72 while Stanek, Aranda, Roggenstein, and
Chris Davison finished 13th.
The Cardinals continue action on Friday morning with the preliminaries of 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET.
