School Record 12 Programs Earn Team Academic All-GLVC Recognition

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced 152 men's and women's teams Monday as recipients of the 2018-19 GEICO Team Academic All-GLVC Award. The GLVC recognizes each team from member institutions that have maintained a 3.30 grade point average for the academic year. The total of 152 honorees surpasses the previous Conference record of 149 set last year.

Of the 152 programs, 12 are from William Jewell which sets a new school record surpassing the 10 from a year ago. Women's cross country and men's tennis take home top GPA honors among Cardinal teams while men's track and field posted a 3.36 GPA which is second-highest among GLVC schools. In addition, volleyball and women's tennis continued their streak as the only Jewell programs to have received the Academic All-GLVC recognition each year since joining the league in 2011-2012 while softball earns their first team honor since 2015.

The GLVC also set a new league record this year with 10 member institutions finishing with 10 or more teams at or above a 3.30.  The Conference had the previous best of eight schools in each of the past two years, after setting league marks in 2016 (seven) and 2015 (five).  Maryville University, which set a league record with 16 meeting the 3.30 standard last year, tied Drury with 14 programs each, followed by the University of Indianapolis with 13, and Bellarmine University, McKendree, and William Jewell with 12 teams apiece.

Of the 152 honored programs, 108 came from women's sports and 44 from the men's side, which marks a decrease of one and an increase of four, respectively, from a year ago.
