CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The William Jewell men's and women's swimming teams combined for 22 event wins, including 17 individual victories as the Cardinals swept the event. The Jewell men topped St. Ambrose by 21.2 points to take home top honors while the women posted 512.1 points, 44.8 ahead of the second place team.
On the women's side,
Martina Torrent and
Sidney MacGillivray shined as the former posted four wins. This total included breaking the school record in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:05.09, besting Shannon Ernst's 2018 time by just over one second. The freshman also took down the Coe College pool records in the 100 and 200 breast and jumped up to third best mark in program history in the latter event. Meanwhile, MacGillivray took home top honors in three events, including the 1650 free where she joined the all-time top-10 list as well as the 200 free where she moved up from 10th all-time to sixth.Â
For the Jewell men, it was
Evan Guichard leading the way with four wins while
Jose Carlos Sanchez had two.
Eric Hart joined the top-10 all-time list in the 1650 free with a second place time of 16:44.94.Â
