Matt Schmitt joined the Cardinal wrestling staff in the fall of 2022 and is in his first season.

• Went 59-26 over a six-year collegiate career, with three years spent at West Virginia before transferring to Missouri
• Was 42-24 with two trips to the NCAA Championships while at West Virginia, qualified for a third NCAA Tournament in 2021 at Mizzou
• Won the individual MAC Championship at 133 pounds as a redshirt junior with the Tigers
• Went 23-14 with a consistent top-20 national ranking during the 2017-18 season as a redshirt freshman
• Two-time Academic All-Big 12 Second Team
• Was a three-time Class 3 State Champion at Platte City High School
• 2015 Missouri Class 3 Wrestler of the Year
• Eight-time Fargo All-American
• Earned his undergraduate degree from West Virginia and an MBA from Missouri
