Jill Slominski begins her 27th year as the head coach of the women’s basketball program at William Jewell in 2022-2023. During her time at Jewell she has amassed an overall record of 460-345.

Jewell Highlights
• Has coached nine teams to 20 or more wins in a season, four have won 25 or more, and the 2004-05 team holds the record for most wins in a season with 28
• Qualified for the GLVC post-season tournament eight of the last nine years
• Has mentored 14 All-GLVC performers, including four first team honors, along with two All-Freshman Team selections
• Totals 67 All-Conference selections, including four Freshmen of the Year 
• Coached nine players to 17 All-America honors, including the first in NCAA era, in Kiara Bradley during the 2021 season
• Has earned three Coach of the Year honors in 2003, 2007 and 2010
• Has won three conference championships and made seven appearances in the NAIA National Tournament 
• Reached the NAIA Sweet 16 three times
• Was inducted into the William Jewell Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014; Six former players have also been inducted
• Mentored players to 99 selections to the Academic All-GLVC teams over the past nine years, including a program-best 17 in 2021 which accounted for 100% of the roster
• Fourteen players, have received the prestigious GLVC Council of President's Academic Excellence Award following their final season
• 2021 JESPY Award for Darrel Gourley Head Coach of the Year 
• 2021 and 2022 teams finished among the top-10 teams in Division II in team GPA


Prior to Jewell
• Was the interim head coach at Ottawa University taking over that program in January of 1996
• Served as the assistant coach at Jewell from 1993-1995  


Playing Career2
• Was a four-year starter in basketball and softball at Northwestern College (IA)
• Earned All-Conference honors on the hardwood as a senior
• Was a three-sport athlete at Vinton-Shellsburg High School (IA), lettering 11 times
• Was a First team All-State selection in basketball her senior year and finished the season as the third leading scorer in the state 
• Was also an All- State selection as a utility player in softball
• Inducted into the Vinton-Shellsburg Hall of Fame


Personal
• A native of Vinton, Iowa 
• 1993 graduate of Northwestern College with a bachelor's elementary education and a 1997 graduate of the University of Missouri Kansas City with a master's in curriculum and instruction of physical education
• Married to husband Josh Slominski and has four children, daughters Rylan and Addisyn, a 2021 William Jewell graduate, along with sons Tyson and Leighton 
• Has two step children Cooper and Isabella
