Cards Fall 2-1 in Overtime to Wisconsin-Parkside

The William Jewell College women's soccer team lost a tough 2-1 overtime game against University of Wisconsin-Parkside in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup on Friday afternoon in Kenosha, Wisc.

The Rangers controlled the match's early minutes but the Cardinals were able to keep them out of the goal.
Sophomore Sarah Franklin then got things going for Jewell as she kicked home a goal outside the box at the 16:48 mark to give the Cards an early 1-0 lead.

The score remained that way over the next 13 minutes before the Rangers scored on a goal by Brynn Darga.

Both teams had their chances to take leads in the second half but defense prevailed on both sides as the 1-1 score held true as regulation play ended.

Four minutes and 38 seconds into the overtime period UW-Parkside's Kristen Benson knoked home the winning goal for the Rangers.

The Rangers dominated shots by a 24-6 margin but only held a 2-1 advantage for shots on goal.

The Cardinals, 6-7 on the season will take on Lewis University on Sunday, October 16 at 12:00 p.m. in Romeoville, Ill.
