The William Jewell College men's soccer team shut out University of Illinois Springfield 3-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Ill.

The Cards netted two goals in the first half and earned one more in the second half. Junior Peter Nechvatal and senior Troy Green both scored for Jewell in the first half. Forrest McCurren added a late second half goal off a double assist from Nathan Seider and David Fox.

Jewell outshot UIS 17-6, including a 9-5 advantage for shots on goal.

The Cardinals, 5-5 on the season will continue Great Lakes Valley Conference action against University of Missouri-St. Louis Friday, October 8 at 3:30 p.m. at Greene Stadium on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
