Cards Fall 4-3 in Overtime at Missouri S&T

Box Score The William Jewell College women's soccer team dropped their first contest of the season on Sunday afternoon at Missouri S & T 4-3 in overtime. The host Lady Miners outshot Jewell 18-16 and 10-7 in shots on goal.

The Lady Miners got on the board in the 13th minute when Leah Williams knocked home a goal from the top of the box. Williams scored again 8 minutes later to make it 2-0.

Jewell's Justine Dover and Taylore Depperman scored goals within two minutes of each other to tie the game 2-2 at the half.

Jewell scored again in the 60th minute on a goal by Sarah Franklin to take their first lead of the game 3-2.

The Lady miners tied things up 15 minutes later on a goal by Melissa Young that sent the game into overtime. A minute into the overtime period Leah Williams completed the hat trick kicking home the game winner from 10 yards out.

The Cardinals, 2-1 on the season will continue GLVC action against Northern Kentucky University on Friday, September 16 at 5:00 p.m. in Highland Heights, Kent.
