Women's Soccer Wins 2011 Season Opener

Box Score In their first appearance as a member of the NCAA, the William Jewell College women's soccer team opened up the season with a dominating 9-0 victory against former Heart of America Athletic Conference foe Culver-Stockton College.

Sophomore Sarah Franklin (Independence, Mo.) led the Cards with a hat trick and three assists. First-year player Lauren Rein added two goals and first-year player Kendyl Laughlin also added a pair of goals for the Cardinals.

Jewell outshot the Lady Wildcats, 18-1, including a 9-1 advantage for shots on goal.

The Cardinals, 1-0 on the season will open up Great Lakes Valley Conference action against Drury University Friday, September 9 at 5:00 p.m. at Greene Stadium on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
