Cards Fall 1-0 in OT to #24 Quincy

The William Jewell College women's soccer team took #24 Quincy University to overtime today, but had their effort spoiled when the Lady Hawks scored 35 seconds into the extra session for the game's only score and the 1-0 win.

Quincy (9-1, 6-1 GLVC) capitalized on the only shot of the extra session, with Maddie Torretta scoring off a pass from Megan Wingenbach. The Lady Hawks controlled much of the play on the day – taking 10 first half shots in their way to 21 on the day – but were held out of the net until the game's final play.

Jewell (5-4-0, 3-4-0) was not without its chances though, as they fired off seven total shots in the game, including three in the first half.

Mallory Malone and Sarah Franklin, led the Cardinals with three and two shots respectively.

The Cardinals will get a day off tomorrow and return to action against Univeristy of Illinois-Springfield on Sunday, October 2 in Springfield, Ill., at 12:00 p.m.
