Box Score In their first appearance as a member of the NCAA, the William Jewell College men's soccer team opened up the season with a 2-1 victory over University of Sioux Falls on Sunday.

Sioux Falls took the early 1-0 lead with a goal 17 minutes into the game. The Cardinals were unable to get on the board until the 82nd minute of the game when sophomore Chad Newman scored on a goal off a double assist from juniors Pete Nechvatal and Cole Prather. Junior Forrest McCurren scored the game winner four minutes later off an assist from senior Troy Green.

Jewell outshot the Cougars, 19-13, including a 9-4 advantage for shots on goal.

The Cardinals, 1-0 on the season will open up Great Lakes Valley Conference action against Drury University Friday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Greene Stadium on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
