Cards Fall in OT to Bearcats

Box Score
First-year forward Alex Ridscale scored on a penalty kick in the 93rd minute to lift McKendree to a 3-2 victory in overtime against William Jewell College in a Great Lakes Valley Conference men's college soccer game Sunday at Greene Stadium in Liberty, Mo.

McKendree improved its record to 8-6 overall and 6-6 in GLVC play.  The Cardinals fall to 10-4 on the year and 8-4 in the GLVC.

Jewell sophomore Shane Bowlen put the Cards on the board at the 16:48 mark of the game with a header off a pass from Sam Braverman.  The Bearcats tied it up 13 minutes later when Joshua Fawssett shot one past Jewell goalie Joe Keeven from the left wing.  The score remained 1-1 going into halftime.

Two minutes into the second half McKendree midfielder Eddie Wilding put one home from the top of the box off a pass from C.J. Cerna to put the Bearcats up 2-1.  The Cardinals answered at the 65:47 mark when Braverman found Chris Binns who netted home his third goal of the season to tie things up at 2-2.  That would end up being the score at the end of regulation.

In the game-winning sequence early in the first overtime period Jewell goalkeeper Joe Keeven bumped into a McKendree player in the box and was whistled for the foul.  Ridsdale stepped to the penalty spot and put the ball over the head of Keeven at the 93:56 mark.

Jewell continues GLVC play as they host Missouri S&T on Friday, October 19 for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
