The William Jewell College women's soccer team scored a 1-0 victory against No. 20 ranked Rockhurst University on Wednesday at the Greene Stadium.  The Cardinals ends the regular season with a 13-1-3 overall record and a 11-1-3 mark in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.  The win assures the Cardinals of hosting a GLVC Quarterfinal Postseason game on Sunday.   

Both teams battled back and forth in the first half but went into halftime tied 0-0. 

The Cardinals scored the only goal of the contest at the 55:08 mark when Kate Beaver found Jade Gifford inside the box and Gifford netted home her fourth goal of the season. 

Rockhurst missed several scoring opportunities late in the contest as the Cardinal defense stepped up to the challenge.

Junior goalkeeper Kelli Sontag recorded five saves and her ninth shutout of the season. The shots were tied at 11 each and Rockhurst earned five corner kicks to one for Jewell. 

The Cardinals will host a Lewis in a GLVC Quarterfinal matchup on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2:00.  The game will be televised online through the William Jewell College Sports Network .
