Cards Blank Ottawa in "Pink Out" Match

The William Jewell College men's tennis team earned a 9-0 home win against Ottawa University in a “Pink Out” match at Clayview Country Club on Friday afternoon.   

The teams sported pink shirts and played with pink tennis balls to raise awareness for breast cancer research.

Junior Michael Wiskirchen and sophomore Jimmy Hunter dominated their opponents, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles before senior Bronson Brassel and junior Max Cooper teamed up for an 8-2 decision at No. 2 doubles.  Juniors Shane Giannetti and Bryan Thomas put the Cardinals in front 3-0 after doubles with an 8-5 victory at No.1.

Brassel, Hunter and Cooper each took their respective flights 6-0, 6-0 while first-year player Michael Rawat surrendered four games for a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 3singles.  Giannetti defeated his Ottawa opponent 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 Singles and
Bryan Thomas delivered a 6-0, 6-4 win at No.2. 

The squad will wrap up the fall season with a dual against Truman State University on Monday at Recreation Park in Cameron, Mo. The match is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
