The William Jewell Cardinals men's tennis team opened up Great Lakes Valley Conference Western Division play today falling 9-0 to Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.

The Cardinals fell behind early losing at No.1, No.2 and No. 3 doubles by scores of 8-3, 8-4, and 8-6. 

The Hawks were able to clinch with the match with straight set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.  Junior Bronson Brassel  and first-year player Jimmy Hunter lost in three sets at No. 3 and No. 6 singles respectively.  The Hawks also picked up wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to earn the 9-0 win.

The loss snaps the Cardinals three match winning streak and brings their record to 8-3 on the spring.  Jewell will travel to Overland Park, Kan., on Wednesday, March 28 for a scrimmage against Johnson Country Community College at 3:00 p.m.
