The William Jewell College men's tennis team blanked University of Illinois-Springfield in Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday 9-0 in Springfield, Ill. 

In doubles action, Shane Giannetti and Bryan Thomas won their match 8-3 over Matt McGowan and Ben Main at No.1 doubles. Bronson Brassel and Max Cooper earned an 8-4 win over Sharma Kumar and Hayden Esker at No. 2 doubles.   In the final doubles match of the day, Jimmy Hunter and Chris Reimer defeated Nicholas Decker and Scott Mauer 8-1.

In singles action Giannetti defeated McGowan 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.  Thomas bested Kumar 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles while Brassel won his match at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-2 over Main.  Cooper was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 4 singles over Esker and Eric Dailey and Hunter both won their matches at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively by scores of 6-2, 6-3.  

The Cardinals, 10-6 on the year and 2-2 in GLVC play, will take on Quincy University on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Quincy, Ill.
