Women's Soccer Wins Fifth Straight

Once again, Sarah Franklin came up big as the William Jewell College women's soccer team knocked off University of Illinois-Springfield , 3-0, on Friday evening.  The junior scored two first half goals to pace the Cardinals to the victory in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Friday evening in Liberty, Mo.  The victory improved Jewell's record to 8-1-0 overall and 6-1-0 in GLVC play and was the fifth straight victory for the Cards.

Franklin scored the first of her two goals at the 19:18 mark off an assist from Sali Stout.  The same combo hooked up again at the 37:53 mark which put Jewell up 2-0 going into halftime. 

In the second half, Kate Beaver found Justine Dover in the box off a corner kick and Dover was able to put in the goal to give the Cardinals their final score of the game. 

Jewell dominated in shots 35-7 and a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal. 

The Cardinals will face nationally ranked (#7) Quincy University on Sunday, September 30 at 12:00 p.m. at Greene Stadium on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
