William Jewell College's Matt McDevitt has earned the Great Lakes Valley Conference's first Player of the Week award for the 2012 men's soccer season, it was announced by the conference office on Monday.  The sophomore forward scored three goals in the Cardinals' lone contest of the week, a 6-1 victory at Sioux Falls.

McDevitt, a native of Lee's Summit, Mo., was credited with eight shots in regulation, with four of those being on goal.  Three of those targets found the back of the net to give him a total of six points on the day.

McDevitt's honor is the Cardinals' first weekly accolade since Troy Green was honored on Oct. 10, 2011.

William Jewell will be back in action this Friday when the Cardinals travel to Indianapolis to face the UIndy Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m.
