Box Score The William Jewell College men's soccer team followed in the footsteps of the women's team as they too upset nationally ranked Quincy University on Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium by a score of 3-0.
Quincy came into the game 5-0-2 and ranked No. 6 in the nation according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II poll.
Matt McDevitt scored a goal in each half for Jewell to bring his season total to 10.
McDevitt scored his first goal at the 30:02 mark off a pass from
Pete Nechvatal that would end oup being the only score of the half and Jewell went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half McDevitt scored an unassisted goal at the 64:08 mark and then five minutes later
Zane Christenson put one home off a pass from
Pete Nechvatal to put the Cardinals up 3-0.
Nate Heryford got Quincy on the board in the 80
th minute to help the Hawks avoid the shutout.
The Cardinals, 8-2 (6-2 GLVC) will take on Southern Indiana on Friday, October 5 in Evansville, Ind., at 5:00 p.m.
