The William Jewell College women's soccer team rallied to a 3-2 double overtime win over Lewis University in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals jumped on the board first when
Kate Beaver netted home a goal in the 13
th minute of the game. The host
Flyers then scored back to back goals in the 27
th and 59
th minute respectively.
Jewell then responded at the 60:11 mark when
Gabby Brooks took a pass off a corner kick from Beaver and knocked home her first goal of the year to help send the game to overtime.
Jewell's
Ashley Licata delivered the game-winning goal at the 96:20 mark as she was able to dribble around the keeper from ten yards out for an unassisted goal.
Keeper
Kelli Sontag made six saves to earn her eighth win of the season while Airanna Nie made six saves for Lewis.
Lewis dominated in shots leading Jewell 21-12 and held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
Jewell improves to 8-6-1 overall and 6-5-1 in GLVC play on the season. The Cardinals will return home to host St. Joseph's College on Friday, October 25 at 5:00 p.m. at Greene Stadium in Liberty, Mo.
