Jewell women's soccer suffered another close loss in conference play Friday night, as the top two preseason teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference met in Quincy, with the Hawks taking a 1-0 win.

The goal came in the 68th minute on a low cross that was knocked in from 11 yards out.

The Cardinals were outshot in the match 13 to nine, and the Hawks (7-0-2, 6-0-1 in the GLVC) had six shots on goal to Jewell's four.  Sarah Franklin had two of the shots on goal for Jewell (5-4-1, 3-3-1), while Gabby Brooks and Olivia Dykes had the others.  Kelli Sontag allowed the one goal, but made four saves in the net.

Jewell will face Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri on Sunday to wrap up the weekend conference road trip.
