Quincy University scored early in the match and rolled to a 6-1 win over Jewell in Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer Friday night in Quincy, Illinois.
The Cardinals, after giving up the early goal in the third minute, tied the game in the 12th minute on
Zane Christenson's goal. Â
Drew Dempsey got the assist for a crossing pass from the left side that Christenson was able to volley past the keeper.
It wasn't enough, though, as Quincy (7-3, 6-1 GLVC) scored two more goals in the first half and three in the second half. Â Jordan Roberts had a hat trick for Quincy.
The Cardinals (4-6, 2-5) Â were outshot 15-4 on goal; Jewell goalkeeper
Shane Van Hooser was credited with nine saves. Christenson had two shots on goal, Dempsey had one and
Chad Newman had the other.
The Cardinals play at Truman University Sunday at 2:30 to end their weekend conference road trip.
