The William Jewell College men's soccer team (1-2) suffered a hard fought loss at the hands of No. 9 Drury University (3-0) in double overtime by a final score of 1-0 on Friday afternoon in Liberty, Mo. 

Drury controlled the pace throughout the contest, putting a lot of pressure Jewell goalkeeper Shane Van Hooser, but came up empty handed to go into the half tied at zero.  The second half featured much of the same, with Drury controlling the game. 

In the overtime periods, Jewell kept battling, but came up on the short end with 2:33 to go in the second overtime, when Drury's Brett Steere knocked home the winning goal. 

Van Hooser saved eight of the seven shots he faced in the goal for the Cardinals.  Drury held the advantage in shots 17-4, shot on goal 8-0, and corner kicks 7-2

William Jewell will return to action on September 15 when they travel to Rolla, Mo., for another Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown with Missouri S&T.  Game time is set for a 2:30 p.m. start.
