The No. 13 ranked William Jewell women's soccer team (3-0, 1-0 GLVC) earned its first Great Lakes Valley Conference win of the season against Drury University on Friday afternoon by a score of 1-0. Sophomore Jade Gifford scored the lone goal for Jewell in the victory on a well-placed penalty kick in the second period.

Jewell's defense held strong for the remainder of the game allowing only four second half shots and out shot Drury 12-8 on the day.  Jewell keeper Kelli Sontag finished with five saves in the match.

The Cardinals will travel to Rolla, Mo., on Sunday for another GLVC matchup with Missouri S&T with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m.
