Drew Dempsey scored the game's lone goal just over nine minutes into the match as the visiting William Jewell College men's soccer team forged a 1-0 victory over the host McKendree University Bearcats in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Friday night. 

With the win, the Cardinals improved to 2-3, (1-2 GLVC) on the year while McKendree slipped to 2-3 (0-3 GLVC).

The squads combined for 24 total shots with McKendree holding a 14-10 advantage.

Jewell goalie Shane Van Hooser made six saves to pickup the shutout victory.

Jewell returns to action Sunday when they travel to Louisville, Kent., to face Bellarmine University  at 2:30 p.m.
