Box Score The William Jewell College men's soccer team blew a 2-0 halftime lead on Sunday and fell 3-2 to fellow-Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kent.
It appeared that Jewell (2-4, 1-3GLVC) had control of the game after taking a 2-0 lead going into halftime, but the tides turned as Bellarmine (4-1-1, 2-1-1 GLVC) dominated the second half in scoring three unanswered times as Dan Shiavi scored the game-winning goal past Jewell goal keeper
Shane Van Hooser at the 84:14 mark. It was Shiavi's second goal of the half.
Zane Christenson initiated the action scoring the first goal of the contest on an unassisted play in the 12th minute.
Austin Browning scored off an assist from
Justin Riley at the 37:01 mark to give Jewell the 2-0 halftime lead.
The rest of the match belonged to Bellarmine as the defense shut out Jewell in the second half.
Bellarmine led 20-6 in shots and 5-2 in shots on goal.
The Cardinals will return home to host Southwest Baptist University on Tuesday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m.
