The William Jewell College women's soccer team dropped their third straight contest on Friday losing 3-1 to Missouri S&T at Greene Stadium in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. Jewell falls to 6-6-3 overall and 5-6-2 in the GLVC. The Miners improve to 8-7 overall and 8-5 in the GLVC.
Sammy Minea scored her first goal of the season for the Miners just three minutes into the contest. The Miners would then build a 2-0 halftime lead at the 34:55 mark when Kasey Ludwig headed in a corner kick.
The Miners built a 3-0 lead at the 65:14 mark when Sabrina Hostler knocked home her seventh goal of the season.
Jewell got on the board in the 80th minute when
Lea Maxwell shot one in off an assist from
Leah Connery.
The Cardinals outshot the Minders 14-13 and led in shots on goal 11-9. Jewell also held a 5-4 advantage on corner kicks.
Jade Gifford led Jewell with 7 shots including 5 on goal.
Alex Dressman made 6 saves in 76 minutes played in goal for Jewell.
The Cardinals will travel to Springfield, Mo., on Sunday to take on Drury University at 12:00 p.m.
