William Jewell College senior Maggie Metz has been named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Athlete of the Week in the sport of women's swimming and diving, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Metz impressed in the pool at the Mabee Center as she helped the Cardinals to a dual-meet sweep over Lewis week, swimming arguably her best-ever effort over her four year career.
 
In Wednesday's 142-79 victory over the Flyers, Metz took first in the 800-meter Freestyle with a time of 9:30.79 and also took first in the 400 meter IM with a time of 5:09.01.  In the 116-89 win over Lewis on Thursday, she took first in the 1500 Freestyle with a time of 18:06.82 and the 400 Freestyle with a time of 4:38.82.  The Topeka, Kansas, native also turned in a second place finish in the 200 Fly, while also contributing to a first- and second-place result in the 400 and 800 Freestyle Relays, respectively.

This is first weekly honor for Metz and the first for a Cardinal since Ida Nyman won the program's first-ever award back on Nov. 18, 2014.
