The William Jewell College women's basketball team fell 78-64 at University of Central Missouri on Sunday afternoon in Warrensburg, Mo. Jewell drops to 4-3 on the season with the loss, while the Jennies improve to 6-2.
Christian Benton-Keys gave Jewell an early 18-11 lead after draining a three-pointer play with 11:28 left in the first half. The score went back and forth the rest of the half with Central Missouri taking a six point lead into halftime.
The Cards shot 38.2% in the first half and Central Missouri hit 45% including 4-9 from three point land.
Central Missouri never trailed in the second half and the closest the Cards came was within three points at the eight minute mark before the Jennies closed it out with an 8-0 run.
Jewell was paced by Keys and
Maddie Nelson who scored 13 points each.
Hayli Jo Smith added 11 points and six rebounds on the afternoon. Central Missouri was led by Revonnia Howard's 15 points and a game high 13 rebounds.
The Cardinals return to action on Monday, December 8 when they travel to Manhattan, Kan., to take on Kansas State University in an exhibition game at 7:00 p.m.
