Less than 24 hours removed from a loss at the hands of Nebraska-Kearney, the William Jewell College men's tennis team rebounded Saturday with convincing back-to-back victories over Central College (Iowa) and Nebraska Wesleyan University.Â
The Cardinals began their day with a 8-1 win over the Dutch of Central College at the Knight Field house on the Nebraska Wesleyan campus. In the nightcap, the Cardinals defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 7-2.Â
Jewell won all six doubles matches today and nine of the 12 singles contests.
Senior
Bryan Thomas went 4-0 today, starting with an 8-4 doubles win with
Michael Rawat over Central's West Adelman and Tim Kahl. Thomas then earned a 6-4, 6-1 singles win at No. 1 singles over Adelman. In the match against Nebraska Wesleyan Thomas and Rawat earned an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and Thomas again won in straight sets at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-3.Â
Senior
Max Cooper also went 4-0 on Saturday with doubles wins at No. 3 doubles 8-6 and 8-5 respectively. Cooper also earned straight set wins at No. 3 singles in both matches.Â
Also going 4-0 today in doubles and singles was sophomore
Michael Rawat playing No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles.Â
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, March 1 with a match scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Â at Emporia State University.
