Box Score The William Jewell College men's soccer team (0-3-2) forced a 2-2 double overtime tie in the home opener of 2014 versus Lewis University (3-1-1) on Friday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action in Liberty, Mo.

Lewis would tie things up when Michael Pyle headed home a goal off a corner kick from Nicholas Monterio.  The score would remain 1-1 at halftime.
The Cards wasted no time getting the lead back after halftime as first-year player
Jordan Lindsey scored a goal from the right wing just 20 seconds into the second half.Â

Shane Van Hooser made a crucial save on a Lewis penalty kick with 22 minutes to play in the game to preserve the 2-1 lead only to see Lewis tie things up a few minutes later on a goal by the Flyers.Â
That goal would help send the game into overtime.Â
In a game that featured a total of six yellow cards Jewell was forced to play two men down for half of the first overtime and all of the second overtime and used a tremendous defensive effort to keep the game tied.
Lewis outshot the Cards 22-9 and led 9-3 in shots on goal.Â
William Jewell will next play host to University of Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday, September 21 at 2:30 p.m. at Greene Stadium.  Â
