Box Score The William Jewell College women's soccer team opened the 2014 season settling for a 2-2 double-overtime tie with Newman University Friday afternoon in Wichita, Kan.
The Jets took a 1-0 lead at the 8:28 mark off a goal from Jasmine Woodruff. Jewell answered back two minutes later as
Emily Monroe found the back of the net from 12 yards out to tie the game 1-1.Â
Monroe struck again at the 60:30 mark of the second half with another unassisted goal to give the Cards a 2-1 lead.
Newman would send the game to overtime when Mei-Mei Senthavy knocked in a rebound to tie the score 2-2 with 3:00 minutes left in regulation.
The teams battled through two 10 minute periods but neither squad was able to score as the game ended in a deadlock.
Newman outshot Jewell 13-8 and held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Cardinals returns to the field again on Friday, September 12 with a 5:00 p.m. matchup at University of Indianapolis.Â
