Ethan Delaney knocked in two goals to help the William Jewell College men's soccer team hold on for a 3-2 win at Lewis University this afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The win snaps a two game losing skid for Jewell and brings them to 4-10-3 overall and 3-9-2 in the GLVC.
Hunter Short got the scoring started in the 16th minute to put Jewell up 1-0. Delaney followed that a minute later with the first of his two goals from 10 yards out.
Lewis would cut the lead in half at the 22:12 mark and Jewell would lead 2-1 at the half.
Delaney would score again in the 56th minute from five yards out which would prove to be a very important goal as Lewis scored just two minutes later to cut the lead to 3-2. Jewell was able to hold on from there for the win.
Jewell was outshot 17-10 in the game, and Lewis held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Keeper
Joe Keeven registered five saves while his counterpart Aaron Menyes recorded three.
The Cardinals will close out the 2015 regular season this Wednesday night at Rockhurst University at 7:30 p.m.
