Despite three tightly contested singles matches McKendree University dropped the William Jewell College men's tennis team, 9-0, on Monday at Kings Point Racquet Club in Belleville, Ill.

In doubles play, the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams from McKendree earned 8-4 wins over Jewell.  The Bearcats blanked the Cards at No. 3 doubles 8-0. 

Freshman Marc Gärtner battled to a 7-6, 7-6 defeat, in the No. 1 singles spot.  Senior Jimmy Hunter battled at the No. 3 spot falling 7-6, 6-4 and junior Isaac Hamilton dropped a three set heartbreaker 0-6, 6-3 10-8 at No. 5

Jewell (2-6) is back in action against Christian Brothers on Tuesday at 1 p.m.  in Memphis, Tenn.
